Bandcamp alternative AC55ID has officially rebranded as Acid Nation.
The electronic music platform is now an all-in-one streaming service, alongside a music marketplace and hub. Maintaining its initial promise to pay artists what they’re worth by allowing them to keep 100 percent of their profits, those who share music and content using a premium account will also now begin earning $0.01 per stream. According to Royalty Exchange, the rate is on par with Apple Music and Tidal, but much higher than Spotify, which shells out $0.00318 per stream on average.
A premium account also unlocks access to Acid Nation’s global merchandise fulfillment and shipping center which comes with complimentary customer service, as well as an on-demand vinyl pressing service with no upfront costs. By signing up for a free account, artists, labels, and creators are still able to share and sell an unlimited amount of uploads without taking any revenue cuts.
"Streaming should reward the people who make the music, not just the platforms," founder James Costa said in a. press statement. "Every play has real value, and it goes straight back to the creators. It's part of our larger mission to build a fairer, more independent future for music."
